(Duncan with ex-Monk, and ex-Perthite, Dandapani)
Not quite as big a day today, due to the Fringe Benefits Golf Tournament held this afternoon (this is the chance for Rob Nixon, founder of the Proactive Accountants Network (“PAN”), to cover some of the costs of the conference by betting with, and then beating, a large number of accountants)!
But nonetheless the morning session was another interesting one from Dandapani.
One of the primary areas I took value from today related to stress management and the role the subconscious mind plays in adding to stress levels if not managed properly.
There was certainly a time when I really struggled to switch off from the business and there was a period of a couple of years at least where my sleep patterns were very poor as a result.
I identified these issues myself and had already put in place methods to deal with it, which were largely affirmed today by Dandapani’s teachings. However there were certainly a few new techniques and items to consider that I think will help even further.
Neither Tom nor myself are big golfers, so rather than participating in the Golf Tournament and looking silly, we went mountain bike riding instead (and no we didn’t fall and look silly anyway). It is most definitely something I recommend people try, particularly if ever in Queenstown.
Tomorrow we will hear from Colin Dunn, 2IC and the technical guru at PAN, followed by four time Olympian Natalie Cook!
