SME Tax Accountant & Adviser - Intermediate/Senior Level - CapitalQ

SME Tax Accountant & Adviser – Intermediate/Senior Level

CapitalQ are hiring...

At CapitalQ Business Advisers & Chartered Accountants we consider ourselves an ultra progressive, highly ambitious, independently owned and operated, SME focused, accounting, tax and business advisory.

Presently operating from our base in East Perth, we are working smart to ensure we stand apart, and as a result… we are growing!

Therefore we are on the look out for a new Team Member who can help us help our CapitalQ Community Members (our Clients) achieve their goals and provide them with peace of mind regarding their tax and financial affairs (and their future lifestyle).

We have potential to fill a new role being that of an experienced Tax Accountant with at least 3 to ideally 5 years within a business services or tax accounting environment and with ideally Tax Institute and CA or CPA qualifications (or well on your way to achievement of the respective designations).

But we will only be filling this role if we find an individual who is right for us (and we right for them)!

We are open minded about who you are. We don’t want you to try and present yourself in a manner that hides your true self attempting to be who you think we want you to be.

However to give you some idea of who we are, which ultimately will be a factor when trying to determine whether you will be a good fit within our Team, we –

  • Believe in being a “life long learner”. And while reading is generally our preferred method of learning, regardless of how you learn best, we hope you are dedicated to continual learning and improvement. And we don’t mean in that throw away, clich`ed way. We mean if you are already in an accounting role, you are dedicating time each day (in addition to your productive work, quite possibly outside standard office hours) to learn about the latest in tax laws, rulings and cases. Plus, while at this stage of your career your tax skills are paramount, you are also proactive about increasing your awareness and understanding of broader issues your SME clients face including (but not limited to) asset protection, estate planning, self-managed superannuation, business improvement, business building and the like.
  • Believe attention to detail is an often overlooked requirement and obligation within our industry, and an undervalued skill. As is taking pride in the quality of ones work, no matter how small the task.
  • Believe there are non-negotiables when it comes to servicing our Community Members and when it comes to working within our Team including –
    • calls and emails are always returned, without exception, and promptly. And tough calls are made first!
    • commitments made (to clients, to Team Members, to anyone) are always met.
    • tax returns, or any other compliance obligation, are never lodged late where it could even remotely be considered to be our fault.
    • if a client is the reason an obligation may not be met on time, or an area of their affairs falls short of our high expectations, we will always have done everything we can to help them help us, and help themselves, to get their affairs in order.
    • if an error is ever made, full ownership is taken immediately, no matter what the perceived consequences (which are rarely as bad as the consequence of not taking ownership).
each individual within our Team is personally responsible for their own success, as well as the success of CapitalQ. If you are not capable of being a genuine team player, please stop reading now, and please do not apply!
    • each individual within our Team is genuinely empowered to do what is required to service our Community Members to the expected high standard. But with that empowerment comes obligations and responsibilities which you must be prepared to take ownership of. If you expect to be told what to do at every step, again you will not fit here at CapitalQ. Equally, if you expect to be able to rebuff personal responsibility because of a lack of micromanagement, you are equally unsuitable for our environment.

If you believe you would be a good fit within the CapitalQ Team, and you are prepared to make a commitment to help build the business and financial futures of our Community Members, as well as build the CapitalQ business towards a big, bright future for all who are a part of it, then here is how you can present your case to us –

1) Get to know us as best you can (though PLEASE do not add yourself to our marketing funnels by signing up to receive downloads, mail outs, The Q Review, etc. Candidates found in our marketing system will not be considered for a role).

2) Either –

a) Write an introductory letter explaining why you feel you may be a good fit for us, and why we a good fit for you. Letters are not to exceed two pages (though certainly could be much shorter if you can get your point across in less words). Generic letters that look like they have been sent to every accounting firm in town will likely not get passed initial screening.

Or

b) Create a simple (low production) video doing the same thing. Videos are to be no longer than 2 minutes (which is much less time than you might think) and again will introduce yourself and briefly explain why you feel you may be a good fit for us, and us for you. To confirm, don’t stress about production value, just hold your phone up and make sure we can see and hear you clearly.

3) Upload your letter (in PDF format only, document files will not be opened) or video, along with your up-to-date, sparkling CV (again, PDFs only) to us below…

Oh, and you wouldn’t be an accountant if you weren’t wondering “what are they paying”? The answer is – we will pay you based on the value and dedication you can provide. If you think that sounds vague rest assured you will definitely get whatever it is you earn and deserve, both now and into the future.

We look forward to hearing from you…

What our customers say

Logo for Kim Fewster

Relieved me of a huge burden, and now keeping my affairs in order and up to date

I came to CapitalQ having experienced substantial business difficulties with my business partner and having been the loser from an Accountant who took sides. I had substantial overdue obligations and the ATO were closing in. I was also highly fearful of my unknown tax position with substantial tax debts likely. CapitalQ went above and beyond to address all issues within my affairs, to bring me entirely up to date with the ATO, and to ensure my resulting tax bill was barely a scratch on what I had feared. They are now keeping my affairs up to date and in order and my stress levels are non-existent relative to those pre-CapitalQ times.
