It seems there are two major reasons people stay with their small time accountant.  The first is they simply aren’t aware an accountant can (or at least should, depending on their skills, experience and willingness) be able to help with much more than just lodging a tax return once a year.  The second is the fear of increased costs.
In regards to the first, if you are reading this you know we are doing everything we can to help spread the word (and we would love your help in this regard so please share the love via social media or forward this to a friend via email).
In regards to the second, well, of course if a new accountant is going to be doing more for you, the costs will increase.  But they can be managed and don’t have to be prohibitive, so long as open and honest discussions are held upfront.  And, as we posted recently via Social Media “If you think its expensive hiring a professional, wait until you hire an amateur!
If you know someone who has been with their small time accountant for years, we would be very glad to chat with them as to how we could help. Making the change is easier than you may think, and the rewards can be substantial.
