There’s been plenty happening ‘down south’ over recent weeks and months with CapitalQ’s local involvement continually expanding, along with that of our own South West CapitalQ Community.

Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club

The Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club held it’s Annual General Meeting in August and this was the first time CapitalQ presented our Financial Reporting Package for the Club.

We are very pleased to say it was well received and outgoing Commodore Peter Hales proudly promoted the strong financial position we have assisted the Club to achieve, while also commending the quality of information and the transparency our reporting provided both to the Management Committee and to the Members.

After the formalities we mingled with Club Members including local identities such as MLA and Deputy Leader of the WA Liberal Party, Libby Mettam.

Vasse Cricket Club

We are pleased to say CapitalQ have renewed our sponsorship of the Vasse Cricket Club committing to a term of three seasons including increasing our contribution and donating one of our CapitalQ ‘Supporting the Community’ gazebos to assist on game day.

We attended the AGM recently and as a result have also agreed to take on the Treasurer’s role and are now providing the Club access to the Xero Online Accounting System as an addition to our sponsorship.

While Kapil and myself only threatened to pull on the whites and join the guys on the field, Duncan has played three of the first five games thus far this season, and from all reports he is doing very well with the bat in hand, assisting with the Clubs first ever 5-0 start!

Vasse Football Club

2021 was another successful season for the Vasse Royals – well done to Simon and Francesca and all involved at the club.

We were pleased to be able to make a modest contribution this year and have committed to do so for the next two seasons.

We managed to make it down to the final round of the season, and hand out our moreish CapitalQ jelly beans.

They were a big hit so expect plenty more next year!

I met with Libby Mettam MLA for Vasse at the Dunsborough Bay Yacht Club AGM recently.

Vasse Markets and Vasse Lions

As many of you know, Vasse Lions have recently taken over the Vasse Markets and so we have taken our sponsorship of the Lions to another level.

We are assisting with a number of administration matters, including transferring the business name as well as setting up the Lions on their new Xero Online Accounting System.

In addition, myself and CapitalQ Community Member, Mohun Chandradeera of Sahas Commercial Cleaning, have volunteered to set up the markets every second Friday afternoon, and to formally open the markets, bright and early at 6.30am on the Saturday.

Of course, a CapitalQ ‘Supporting the Community’ gazebo has been added to the market infrastructure.

In addition to assisting with the Vasse Markets, we are continuing to assist the Lions with the collection of unsold food products from local supermarkets and their distribution to those in need in our local area each weekend.

Oh, and we have sponsored the Vasse Lions Christmas Carols to be held on Saturday the 18th of December at Kaloorup Hall.

We look forward to seeing many of you there.

Personal Note

On a personal note, after falling victims to the international border restrictions and spending over a year in Sri Lanka, my darling wife Mal and our little boy Leon have finally made it back to Australia.

We are very grateful to have the family together again and we are all enjoying being part of our new, local South West community.

Leon in particular is loving his new child care, having recently enrolled at Little Scholars Early Learning Centre Vasse
