New Requirements for New Employees including the refreshed Fair Work Information Statement

new fair work information statement from the Fair work ombudsman

Very quick reminder for all our Employer Clients …Of course you will have seen our associate, Graham Lilleyman, posted recently in the CapitalQ Newsroom regarding the “2015 – 16 Annual Wage Review”.  But in case you missed it, or need further information …

But one extra ‘tid bit’ we hadn’t previously noticed, is the Fair Work Information Statement, which all Employers are required to provide to all new Employees, has also been freshened up for the new year.

Employers using a CapitalQ New Employees Pack

If you are currently using a New Employees Pack provided by us, we will be in touch very shortly with a revised version including the new Fair Work Information Statement (if for some reason you don’t hear from us, please get in touch).

Everyone else

For everyone else, you can access it here Fair Work Information Statement (July 2016)  or head over to the Fair Work Ombudsman’s website for it and more info.

Why does this matter?

Well, as of January 2010, it has been a requirement that all Employers provide a copy of the Fair Work Information Statement to all new employees (among other things)!  We recommend all our Employer Clients actually have their new employees either sign a copy of the Statement, or even better, sign our New Employees Pack which includes a declaration from them that they have received the Fair Work Information Statement (that way there can never be an suggestion it wasn’t provided). If you have any doubts about your compliance with your employment and Fair Work obligations, let us know and we will try point you in the right direction.(Please note, we are not specialist Employment Advisers, but we obviously have plenty of hands on experience and can do just that, point you in the right direction.  For more complex issues, we work with specialists like Graham at ESSA to ensure our Clients receive the best possible advice and guidance.)
