Introducing Jillian Beed and her fashion label, Rue Stiic

Jillian Beed settled in Perth in 2011 after leaving her native Venice Beach, California and travelling throughout Europe, Indonesia and along the Australian coastline. Jillian’s dad is originally from Sydney, so she spent time growing up on both the east coast of Australia as well as the west coast of America, where her family still lives.

A major milestone for Jillian… is her fashion line can also now be found in the mega department store, Myer

Having attended LMU (Loyola Marymount University) to achieve her business administration degree and working with startups like Hourglass Cosmetics and watching them grow into multimillion-dollar brands, the entrepreneurial bug had well and truly bitten Jillian.

So with a passion for fashion and a love of the 70’s summer beach lifestyle, Rue Stiic was born.

Launched in 2013 from Jillian’s small Mount Lawley apartment, Rue Stiic has rapidly grown to being sold in over 150 stockists worldwide, including throughout Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Europe and Thailand. Plus, another nine online stockists and of course, her own website, ruestiic.com.

A major milestone for Jillian which can be put down to hard work and perseverance, is her fashion line can also now be found in the mega department store, Myer – a goal of any small manufacturer, but one which is rarely achieved.

Hard Work Pays Off

In the beginning it was tough for Jillian.

Fashion is a very competitive industry to break into. But the Mount Lawley apartment on the café strip was the perfect environment for Jillian’s creative mind to conceptualise and design her hip, bohemian, easy to wear outifts.

Jillian split her time between working at various local boutiques and food establishments to pay the bills, then investing the rest into her business.

Through these first lean years, Jillian’s love for what she was doing and her vision of what she wanted her business to become, kept her committed and prepared to work hard and invest everything she had, giving herself every chance to be successful. This focused ‘eye on the prize’ mentality has led to Rue Stiic’s consistent year on year growth. And with the knowledge of having CapitalQ in her corner, Jillian has taken our advice to ‘Think Big’.
