Big day at the PAN Annual Conference, though I will keep this post short as it is still going 🙂
We started with a session from Colin Dunn, 2IC at PAN and the man responsible for the networks most innovative products and ideas.
Colin focused on how to improve the delivery of value added, non-compliance related, advisery services. In particular he continues to try to assist the PAN Members to play a larger role in helping to develop their clients’ businesses. Primarily he asks us to accept that as an Accountant we will not always know all the answers (especially where issues are industry specific) but that shouldn’t hold us back, because it is the use of a structured process when planning, strategizing and problem solving that will be of most assistance to our clients.
Colin has developed extensive material to help PAN Members from this point of view, and we will be doing our best to absorb it all and to put as much into practice as possible.
The afternoon was the realm of five time Olympian and Gold Medal Winner Natalie Cook who spoke extensively about methods she employed throughout her Volleyball career, and now in her business career, to keep herself motivated and on track towards her goals.
I had the pleasure of meeting Nat in the evening and we had a great chat over a beer. She is a normal person, as you would expect, who simply found ways to get the best out of herself over an extended period of time.
